OP (Original Poster)
The person who started an online post or discussion thread.
Context
People use OP to refer back to the author of the initial post when a thread has many replies. Depending on the sentence, it can also refer to the original post itself.
On a question-and-answer site, the question’s author might be called OP in the discussion beneath it.
Examples
- “The OP added an example that makes the question easier to understand.”
