Static Front-End Website
A website whose pages are delivered as prepared files, with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other assets handling what visitors see and use.
Context
The files can be written directly or generated during a build. A browser can still run JavaScript to search, filter, animate, or fetch data after loading a static page.
Aaron Schlossberg’s Universe uses this approach. Its build prepares the Compendium pages, and the browser adds features such as filtering and copying a share link.
Examples
- A prebuilt glossary can display every definition immediately and use JavaScript to narrow the list as someone types.
