Creepypasta
A horror story that spreads online through copying, reposting, or retelling.
Context
The name plays on copypasta, slang for text that people copy and paste across the internet. A short story can circulate well beyond the forum where it appeared, then grow through retellings and adaptations.
Examples
- The original Backrooms creepypasta turned a photograph of empty yellow rooms into a premise other people could build on.
